Parvovirus B19 is the causative agent of Fifth disease (Erythemainfectiosum) which usually produces a mild illness. The virus is also associated with Hydrops fetalis, Aplastic crises and Arthralgia.Detection of IgM antibodies indicates recenti nfection whereasI gG antibodies indicate past infection or immunity.
