Creatinine

Creatinine

Creatinine is a chemical waste product formed by the normal breakdown of muscle cells. Healthy kidneys filter creatinine out of the blood and it exits the body as a waste product in urine. This test is a measure of how well the kidneys are performing their job of filtering waste from the blood. Creatinine measurements are used in diagnosing and treating certain renal diseases, monitoring renal dialysis, and as a calculation basis for measuring other urine analytes.
